Celebrate the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost this coming Lord's Day. Read prayerfully and meditate upon these scripture passages: Amos 8:1-12; Psalm 52; Colossians 1:15-28; and Luke 10:38-42. Collect: Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Saying Good-bye Is Hard to Do. This Sunday will be Mother Joyce's and Jason's last Sunday with us. Jason will be the preacher for both morning services and Mother Joyce will be the Celebrant at the 10:30 liturgy. Help us in worship and fellowship to send them and their families forth to continue their journeys of faith and ministry. A time of feasting (cake and finger foods) and thanksgiving will take place between 9:15 and 10:15 in the Parish Hall. Feel free to bring cards and notes (collection baskets will be available on a side table).

This coming Sunday is our traditional day (3rd Sundays) for bringing items to the Narthex to help stock the shelves at the Interfaith Council's Community Market (Food Pantry). "The Community Market makes available fresh produce, pantry staples, and hygiene items at no cost to households where someone lives or works in Chapel Hill or Carrboro....To work with shoppers and stock shelves, IFC relies on daily volunteer power and donations from individuals, congregations, community food drives, civic groups, grocery stores, and more." Current needs include:
--Canned Mixed Vegetables, fruits, baked beans, pork & beans, chili
--Canned Meats
--Baking Mixes
--Pasta
--Cereal
--Jelly
--Instant Hot Chocolate
--Body Wash, Shampoo, Bar Soap, other Toiletries
--Baby Diapers
--Toilet Paper

Join us for a celebration of the Holy Eucharist Wednesday at Noon in the Nave as we remember and give thanks for John Cassian, Monastic and Theologian, 435. Collect: Holy God, whose beloved Son Jesus Christ blessed the pure in heart: Grant that we, together with your servant John Cassian and in union with his prayers, may ever seek the purity with which to behold you as you are; one God in Trinity of persons now and for ever. Amen.

Responding to the Floods. We have all watched in horror as floods have stolen lives and left devastation in their wake in the West Texas Hill Country. The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, which includes the affected areas, asks for “Big Prayers” along with financial help as the assessments and needs unfold. Likewise, our neighbors in Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties were hit hard by Tropical Storm Chantal’s flooding. With damage estimates in the early stages, it is hard to say what the final toll of either of these events will be – but we know that it is an incredibly challenging time for so many of our neighbors, near and far.
On behalf of the parish, the Outreach Commission is sending $500 to The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and the same amount to Triangle Mutual Aid. Look for posters scattered around the church to learn more about these organizations and how you can provide help and make your own donation.
Celtic Christianity Retreat (Saturday, July 26, 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Durham). You are invited to discover the sacred woven through everyday life in this day-long retreat: journey into the roots and living practices of Celtic Christianity; teaching, reflection, and Celtic-inspired worship; suitable for newcomers and those familiar with the tradition. The Reverend Bill Livingston, Episcopal priest and retreat leader, has a deep love of the Celtic Christian tradition. He regularly leads Celtic Christianity retreats and Celtic Eucharists. To learn more and/or register, click here. Cost: $20 (includes lunch). Register by Wednesday, July 23.

Please help the Outreach Commission support the children and families in Dunn, NC, served by the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry. During July, visit the Gallery wall for a display of the 10 children Holy Family is sponsoring. You can take index cards as a reminder to purchase school supply items requested by the EFWM for each child. Return items to the Narthex or Gallery by the end of the month and we will assemble backpacks and deliver them to the center for distribution.
No time to shop but still want to help? You can write a check to Church of the Holy Family with memo EFWM, or give on Church Center https://holyfamilychapelhill.churchcenter.com/giving (select Episcopal Farmworker Ministry fund), or use the QR codes on the flyers throughout the church and Donate to the Holy Family EFWM fund. We will use the funds collected for any needed supplies. Thank you for the support!

Thank you for generously donating over $16,000 last month to the Haiti Scholarship Fund toward the cost of operating our elementary school in Molas, Haiti, for 2025-26. Please know that financial contributions are welcome anytime of the year. Thank you for supporting our almost 40-year partnership with the children of Molas!

Update on our search for a new Rector. The Vestry/Search Committee met a couple of weeks ago to consider prayerfully those candidates in whom there was 'high' interest. Now the search process moves forward with many conversations and communications between individuals and diocesan offices. While we are getting closer to our goal, we are not yet at the finish line. At this point the Vestry anticipates that additional information will be shared in about two weeks. Let us pray for this important work as it continues toward a conclusion--Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (The Book of Common Prayer, p. 818)

In case of a pastoral emergency, please contact the Reverend Joyce Corbin Allen or the Reverend Angela Compton-Nelson through the Directory.
